Taylor Thrash is a singer/songwriter from Dallas, TX who recently released his first EP. Taylor’s new upcoming pop album Step Forward will be released Spring 2012.
How did you get started in the music industry?
When I was 18, I started college as a songwriting major. Two weeks in to school, a record label in Los Angeles asked me to move out to LA and build a band around me. I dropped out of school and moved to LA to become a singer and songwriter. The best part about that was the fact my parents didn’t freak out.
What has been the proudest moment in your career?
I recently got to share the stage with Hellogoodbye and The Early November who were both a huge influence in what I write today. Seeing my name next to theirs on a bill was definitely a proud moment.
What inspires you as a songwriter?
I am inspired by my relationship with my lady and my family. I draw everything from personal experience and like to be very specific lyrically in my songs. Every song I’ve ever written is about the same girl and either the good or bad I’ve experienced with her.
You’re a BMI affiliated songwriter. Why did you choose them?
To be honest, I was recommended to BMI from my manager and signed up under them. They have been wonderful for me and I’ve recommended them to my friends who are starting to get their music off the ground.
What projects or events are coming up for you that the Songtrust readers should know about?
Well, I’m about to release my new album Step Forward in the next month and I’m leaving for a tour in April with Rocky Loves Emily and Phone Calls From Home. I can’t wait for everyone to hear these new songs and hopefully fall in love with them!
