As the BMI vs. Pandora issue at court came to a resolve, Judge Louis Stanton who called the ruling has recently backed it up with an explanation as to why he made the decision that Pandora should be paying BMI 2.5 percent of its revenue.  Based on past deals made between the publishing companies and Pandora, Stanton makes a point to say that those transactions were made by “business considerations” not as much by the concept of copyright infringement.  Read more for details.

President Paul Williams of ASCAP was given the PRS for Music Special International Award on May 21, 2015 at the 60th Annual Ivor Novello Awards in London, presented by none other than the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors (BASCA). His recent album in 2014 was awarded Album of the Year Grammy for co-writing the songs “Touch” and “Beyond.” He feels honored to be recognized by his fellow songwriters and is thankful for his awards.
Sony/ATV Music Publishing UK has some recent news on the horizon that they signed the British duo Krept and Konan to a worldwide deal as well as Walk the Moon. Krept and Konan will issue their debut album The Long Way Home in the UK with appearances from big time artists such as Ed Sheeran, Wiz Khalifa, and a few others. The deal with Walk the Moon entails an agreement that they will have rights to the group’s catalog as well as their future songs.
